Job Description

PROCESSING PLANT MANAGER - United KingdomAre you a metallurgist or mineral processing engineerDo you have a minimum of 20 years experience in the operation of mineral processing plantsHave you gained first-hand operating experience of ore sorting, dense medium separation, magnetic separation, fine gravity separation, roasting, hydrometallurgical, comminution and classification processesAs part of a company strategy to strengthen and grow their operational team an opportunity has arisen for a Processing Plant Manager to join a UK based Mine Owner.This new Processing Plant Manager role will be an integral part of the team working on the mine re-start throughout the feasibility study, project re-build, commissioning/ramp-up and into production.Key requirements include:

  • Providing strong leadership to a large multi-disciplinary team.
  • As a key member of the management team, work collaboratively with other senior management members to achieve the Companys goals.
  • Achieving the companys process plant production, safety, performance, quality and cost targets.
  • Maintaining the highest standards of health, safety and environmental responsibility.
  • Building the process plants operations, metallurgical and engineering teams.
  • Training and mentoring staff to provide a thorough understanding of mineral processing principles and equipment.
  • Managing the metallurgical accounting and audit functions and provide performance reports.
  • Managing the planned and preventative maintenance systems and requirements, including parts inventories based on sound knowledge of the equipment.
  • Preparing and managing the process plant budget.
  • Developing a cross-disciplinary continuous improvement system to increase operational performance and quality.
  • Diagnosing process problems and inefficiencies and optimise the process
  • Setting up and managing test work and plant improvement studies
Essential requirements are:
  • Bachelors Degree in metallurgical or process engineering.
  • 20+ years operational experience of a mineral processing plants.
  • Held senior operational positions in the mining industry.
  • Knowledge and experience of mineral process and plant design including engineering calculations; plant maintenance; process control, instrumentation, online sampling procedures; and process optimisation.
