Job Description

Principle EngineerDevonport Royal Dockyard, Plymouth About the roleWe’re looking multiple Principle Engineers within the Submarines business unit to join us at HMNBDevonport, one of the largest naval bases in Western Europe. We’re a key delivery partner to our clients customers; the MOD and the Royal Navy. We ensure that the UK Royal Navy goes to sea safely by supporting them in Devonport and around the world, delivering complex ship and submarine sustainment programmes and applying our core strengths of technology and expertise to sustain critical and complex assets to help maintain national security.What do I need to do the roleYou will be qualified to a minimum of an ONC or NVQ L3 in an Engineering Discipline. However, consideration will be given to an applicant who has significant/transferable experience in a relevant engineering based subject or role. All relevant training and Professional Development Plans will be provided to the successful candidate(s).We would also like you to have experience in the following areas:

  • Knowledge and experience of submarine systems would be an advantage, however, experience within a marine based engineering environment would be considered as relevant training will be provided to the successful candidates.
  • Excellent communication skills and be capable of engaging effectively with internal and external customers and stakeholders.
  • Proficient in the application of Project Management Tools and how they are utilised throughout the Project Lifecycle.
  • Experience of working with the Project Delivery Framework and Project Management Principles.
  • What else do I need to know
  • The successful candidate will need to satisfy Ministry of Defence security requirements. This may require you to hold or be eligible/capable of achieving SecurityCheck’ (SC) clearance.
