We have built on the success of the UK MoD Type 31 Frigate and have secured contracts for frigate export variants (AH140) with overseas customers. As well as supportingexports of frigates the engineering team is actively working on other ship newbuild and life extension programs around the world, from small fast attack craft all the way up to aircraft carriers.The roleThe difference our new Principal Vibroacoustic Engineer will makeAs a Principal Vibroacoustic Engineer, youll have a role thats out of the ordinary. This is an opportunity to move your career into a complex whole shipbuilding programme and export markets and be involved in the front end of the design.Day to day, youll be responsible for authoring, reviewing and substantiating Noise and Vibration (N&V) marine systems and whole ship designs against classification society requirements. The role will include undertaking, and advising on, theoretical wholeship vibroacoustic modelling, Underwater Radiated Noise (URN) assessments and local equipment modelling, determining appropriate N&V control methodologies to achieve specified performance criteria.You will also be required to act as the Technical Authority for N&V engineering, liaising with design teams, equipment suppliers and other stakeholders to ensure coordination and functionality of design as such you will have deep subject knowledge and beable to lead/direct a small team of specialist engineers.At Babcock, we have a history of helping talent go far. This role providesEssential experience

  • You are required to have a high level of developed knowledge in Vibroacoustic simulation methods including Statistical Enginery Analysis (SEA), Finite Element (FE) and Boundary Element Model (BEM)
  • Ideally you will be qualified to degree level (or equivalent) in acoustics or a related engineering discipline with extensive experience in the relevant field.
  • You will have experience in Field measurements of N&V parameters to support performance assessments, modelling, diagnostic testing and procurement.
