Job Description

Vacancy: Metrology Quality EngineerLocation: Plymouth, Devon UKSalary: £35,000 per annumInteraction Recruitment are seeking an analytical and detail-orientated Quality Engineer with a background in Metrology inspections. The successful candidate will have a proven track record in working alongside production and engineering to ensure continuous review of tooling/equipment accuracy and calibration.Main Accountabilities:

  • Lead, motivate and develop the inspection team to ensure standards and skill levels enable company objectives to be met
  • Ensure training is provided to the Standards Room and Incoming Inspection Staff to ensure the ability to operate consistent and accurate results on all fine measurement equipment used
  • Develop the Measurement Approaches for features on NPIs
  • Identify and drive improvement activities based on inspection and measurement results
  • Ensure FAIRs are compiled and completed in line with internal and customer requirements
  • Represent the business at relevant metrology forums to identify new measurement tools and solutions
  • Work alongside the production team to actively identify, establish, and drive continuous improvement processes
  • Drive and lead 8D analysis across the business
  • Deliver training across the business on quality skills such as 8D, SPC, Visual Inspection and Root Cause Investigation techniques
  • Provide support to production including MRB, Scrap Escalation, Grease Witness and QA Stamp Approval sign off
Desired Skills & Qualifications:
  • Qualified to Masters Degree level or equivalent in a relevant engineering/metrology subject
  • Experience in Quality Engineering in Manufacturing environments
  • Training and comprehensive understanding of ISO9001, AS9100, AS9120 QMSs
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications with a proven understanding of Geometric Tolerances
  • Experience using 8D methodology and 5Why investigations
  • Proven implementation of quality improvement tools such as Failure Mode & Effect Analysis, Advanced Product Quality Planning and Production Part Approval Process
  • Comprehensive understanding of statistical analysis to validate and analyse manufacturing processes
  • Experience of running Design of Experiments and project management techniques
