Job Description

Based in Plymouth, my client is looking for two Lifting Engineers who will be responsible for completing the planned preventative maintenance & reactive maintenance of the customers gantry cranes along with the associated lifting and testing practices.Client DetailsMy client employs over 3,000 people with a presence in 96 countries.They operate eight world-class manufacturing facilities, three DNV-GL accredited training centres, 70 locations and a support network of more than 400 accredited service stations.Their facilities are strategically located for the convenience of our customers. For example, the marine business serves 2,000 ports across the world, making them the unparalleled leader with their global reach.DescriptionThe successful Lifting Engineer will;

  • Perform stated tasks within company policies and procedures and obtain approval for any deviation from specifically allocated tasks.
  • Be primarily responsible for attending the planned preventative maintenance of customers gantry cranes.
  • Reacting to customer breakdowns.
  • Potential requirement to provide rotational cover for out of hours customer response
  • Complete fault diagnosis and liaise directly with the customer to achieve cost effective methods of service and repair
  • Complete and return full service & repair reports ensuring all parts utilised have been allocated correctly
  • Ensure customer requirements are met and reporting and additional requirements to the sales team
  • Be responsible for proof load testing, visual examination, service and inspection of cranes and general lifting equipment.
  • Liaise on a day to day basis with the Operations team.
  • Achieve competency level as defined in LEEA registration scheme.
  • ProfileThe successful Lifting Engineer will possess a range of the following;
  • Hold minimum NVQ3 (or equivalent) Electrical Maintenance.
  • Hold minimum City & Guilds (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering 17th edition.
  • Experience of maintaining, repairing and fault finding in gantry crane systems is desirable.
  • Have a good knowledge of LOLER requirements.
  • Preferably hold or working towards LEEA IP1, IP2 & IP3 as minimum.
  • Competent to perform inspections of lifting equipment in accordance with LOLER.
  • Full UK Driving License required.
  • Have a flexible approach regards working hours, and the ability to work extra hours if required.
  • Have the ability to communicate in a clear and concise manner, via all means of communication (written and verbal) & IT literate.
  • Have excellent organisational skills and awareness of the requirement for efficient time planning.
  • A willingness to undertake future professional development.
  • Great attention to detail, high standards and a determination to achieve positive results.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • To carry out any other reasonable duties deemed appropriate and commensurate with the post.
  • Job OfferThe successful Lifting Engineer will receive;
  • Basic salary of around £35,000
  • 40hrs per week. Start & Finish times; 08:00-16:30 Monday to Friday. This includes 2 x 15min paid breaks and 1 x 30min unpaid break
  • A company van/smart phone are provided, which are for company use only.
  • All PPE including coveralls and corporate clothing/accessories are supplied. Coveralls are laundered by an external company.
  • Specialised equipment (job specific) are also supplied. All remain the property of client.
  • Tooling; most engineers have and use their own basic tooling, which usually consists of spanners, socket sets etc. We have specialist tooling required for use, as well as an array of drills, grinders etc (electrical tooling), however most engineers do also have their own.
  • Overtime & Overnight AllowancesMon-Fri: First 4 hrs x1.5, x2 thereafterSaturday First 4 hrs x1.5, x2 thereafterSunday x2.Overnight Allowance - working and staying away from site overnight, additional payment of £37.50, breakfast & evening meal paid.Holiday Entitlement25 days per year, plus 8 Public Holidays. The site usually closes over the Christmas period, however holidays from the employees entitlement will be required to be submitted to cover the non public holidays. For example 2020 the site was closed from Thursday 24th December and re-opened on Monday 4th January (three days personal entitlement was required).Probation PeriodThis is 6 months as standard. Meetings held at 1month, 3months & 6months.Company pensions schemeFollowing three complete months of service and eligibility, the employee will automatically be enrolled into the Survitec Group Money Purchase Pension Scheme (SGMPPS). Further details of the scheme will be provided by the pension provider. The pensions scheme also includes life insurance, which is 4x annual wage.
