Job Description

Currently engaged in a relevant IT-related degree programme and looking for a placement year in industry If so, we would love to hear from you.Here at HM Land Registry,we are looking for 3 enthusiastic undergraduates to join a forward thinking organisation that recognises talent and encourages personal development as our IT Student Placement.You will join us on a full-time or part time, fixed term basis, and in return,you will receive a competitive salary of£23,394 per annum.About the role:You will be joining us for a 12-month placement within our Technology and Digital Services (T&Ds) directorate in the vibrant, waterfront city of Plymouth.Its an exciting time to join us as we continue on a major digital transformation programme. Our existing software systems form part of the critical national infrastructure, safeguarding land and property ownership valued at £7 trillion, enabling over £1trillion worth of personal and commercial lending to be secured against property across England and Wales.Key responsbilities of ourIT Student Placement:Azure:

  • Using DevOps and Infrastructure as Code techniques to deploy and maintain the AVD environment.
  • Ensure that the desktop and server estate is fully patched and in a supported state.
  • Deploying, supporting, fault-finding, and deploying various Microsoft 365 solutions
  • Planning, building, maintaining and enhancing Azure services (including but not limited to AVD, virtual machines, virtual servers & services, virtual networks & firewalls)
  • Scripting, Infrastructure as Code and DevOps skills (Powershell, Terraform, Git etc)
  • Support, maintenance and upgrade of Microsoft 365 client and server products including Outlook/Exchange, Teams, Dynamics/Power Platform, Active Directory.
WebOps:
  • Includes Linux OS, deploying (GIT, Puppet, Jenkins) and supporting web-based systems, cloud technologies (AWS), working with developers to build solutions, agile principles.
  • Creation and management of container-based systems, utilising Kubernetes technologies to easily deploy and scale services.
  • Utilisation of automation technologies to enhance ways of working and reduce manual actions required.
  • Support key platform components, including Postgres/RDS, Redis/Elastcache and Elasticsearch.
  • Using monitoring and diagnostic tools to investigate issues and support the production environment of businessservices.

This means you are likely to have some input and choice about how and when you might work from home.How this looks will differ between roles and areas of the organisation but generally we expect everyone to typically spend at least 40% of their working time in the office.
