Job Title: Operations Manager (Fuel Handling)Location: Plymouth, Devon, GB, PL1 4SGCompensation: £ 60,000.00 + BenefitsRole Type: Full time / Permanent Job ID: SF35641The Fuel Handling Department supports the engineering activities for the UKs Nuclear Submarines once they are no longer in service. The Department comprises a team of approximately 120 qualified Engineers and Technicians who plan and undertake all aspectsof submarine nuclear fuel handling and consignment utilising equipment and facilities designed and built to modern Safety Standards.Who we are looking forWe are currently looking for an Operations Manager to lead the team that plans, supports and executes all fuel handling tasks.What will you be doingIn doing so, you will ensure compliance with all the necessary procedures, standards and legislation that govern the processes we use. This is first and foremost a leadership role for which youll have a proven record including personal development of the entireteam. A key feature of this role will be to help the business shape the future de-fuel capability at Devonport. This will consider matters of Engineering Best Practice, generation of optimised, safe and flexible working procedures and processes that will standthe business in good stead for many years. You will act as the department Duly Authorised Person (DAP), setting the expected standard of behaviour for both conventional and nuclear safety and leading by example.The experience youll bring You will need to be degree qualified, Chartered Engineer with membership of an appropriate Institution. Youll have knowledge of either UK civil nuclear or defence regulatory requirements associated with handling nuclear matter on a nuclear licensed site. Youwill have extensive experience of building and managing multidisciplinary teams and be a proven safety leader in an operations environment.
