Job Title: FSS Principal Supportability EngineerSF32807Location: Devonport, PlymouthBusiness Unit: WarshipsSalary: £ 49,640.00About the roleHere at Babcock International were looking to recruit an FSS Principal Supportability Engineer.Our customers Future Solid Support (FSS) Vessel Project will deliver 2/3 Platforms to be operated by the Royal Fleet Auxiliary, and required to support deployment of the Royal Navys Carrier Strike and broader Task Groups. The ships will be fitted to carry ammunition, dry stores and spares. The Project will align with the approach in Type 31, which is a pathfinder and cornerstone of the National Shipbuilding Strategy.Main Purpose of Role:The FSS Principal Supportability engineer is responsible for ensuring a strict, coherent approach to all aspects of supportability. This will include the day to day administration and co-ordination of activities directly related to contract deliverables with particular focus on managing and maintaining supportability and R&M cases, and the delivery of supportability modelling and associated FSS outputs:• Develop the Design for Support approach for the Head of Supportability, to include:• Understanding the Operational intent• Establishing the Maintenance Philosophy• Initial Maintenance Burden and Availability Modelling• R&MWhat do I need to do the roleYoull need a Degree or be HNC qualified in an engineering discipline (mechanical, marine, electrics/electronics or systems) or relevant experience at the discretion of the Warships Engineering Director / FSS Head of Supportability and be a Chartered Engineer or Incorporated Engineer working towards Chartered status.Would also like you to have experience in all or some of the following:• Experience in the application of Supportability Analysis and Reliability and Maintainability techniques.• Experience in Reliability Centred Maintenance techniques.• Experience of availability and maintenance burden modelling.• Ability to work in a complex, multi-discipline team.• Sound understanding of ship systems and equipment.What else do I need to know• The successful candidate must be able to achieve the appropriate security clearance level for this role.• Please follow the link to find out more about how COVID-19 is impacting Recruitment and On-boarding for applicants: • We are happy to talk about flexible working.
