Job Description

Ferry SupervisorAn exciting position has become available for a full-time Ferry Supervisor based in Cornwall. The successful candidate will earn £29,939 - £34,291. The candidate will work 37.5 hours per week.Previous experience in a similar role will be advantageous, but it is not essential as we are much more interested in finding the right person with the right skillset. However, you will need to have well developed IT skills, an excellent knowledge of Healthand Safety practises, SSOW and regulations, as well as a minimum of 2 years in a line management position.This is a dynamic and safety critical role in a unique environment.Role Requirements

  • Attention to detail including accurate record keeping and report writing.
  • A proven history in an operational background and change management.
  • Good IT skills, fluent in Microsoft Word/Excel/Teams.
Role Responsibilities
  • Supervisors must lead by example, providing first line people management, delivering HR support to staff and routine supervision of all aspects of the operation: this will include the safe, timely and efficient coordination of 1,2 or 3 ferries dependingon the time of day and demand.
  • Ferry Supervisors monitor CCTV, marine radio and shipping movements to mitigate against service disruption and support security requirements when planning operational activities.
  • Staff supervision, support and development are fundamental requirements in the day to day function of the role and include mentoring crew, monitoring staff probation periods, managing performance and attendance, preparation and delivery of crew appraisalsand team building in support of the Operations Manager.
  • The role will include significant data entry to complete operations logs and submit incident reports, in addition to liaising with outside agencies and the emergency services.
  • During weekends and out of hours periods the Duty Supervisors are the primary focal point for ferry coordination and first line response.
