Job Description

Facilities AssistantPortsmouthSalary is £18,539pa.- Concessionary ferry travel, after 6 months service- NHS top-up, after 6 months- Uniform provision37.5 hours per week Monday to Friday.Key Responsibilities:The Facilities Assistants prime responsibilities are maintenance of buildings and pooled / port vehicles at their location in an excellent state of repair; proactive health, safety and environmental compliance and improvements; stores management includingstock controls; general tasks that support General Services day-to-day operationsCompany Buildings and FurnitureMissions

  • Basic day-to-day maintenance of the Companys buildings and furniture, including minor repairs and minor painting and decorating
  • On-site liaison with contractors when working-on site
The role holder is expected to actively keep buildings and furniture in good order both directly and, working with line management, via contractors.Company Vehiclespooled and port vehiclesMissions Ensuring port and pooled vehicles are in excellent and safe condition Preparation of pooled vehicles ready for drivers to utilise when booked outThe role holder is expected to actively keep vehicles in good order both directly and, working with their line management, via suppliers.Health, Safety and EnvironmentalMissions Work with line management and the Health, Safety and Environmental Manager to put the companys Health, Safety and Environmental policy and practices into practice Be an active member of the companys Health and Safety team to support the Health, Safety and Environmental Manager achieve legal compliance through providing feedback and putting required actions into practice Undertake PAT testing of electrical itemsThe role holder is expected to comply with and actively provide feedback and ideas to improve all aspects of the companys health, safety and environmental remitStores and Stock ControlsMissions Store the Companys stocks and archives in a well ordered and secure manner Actively manage stock controlsThe role holder is expected to actively manage this part of their role and alert line management when re-stocking or de-stocking is requiredGeneral operational supportMissions Provision of team support through day-to-day ad hoc tasksLine management may require the role holder to undertake ad-hoc tasks that help achieve the teams remit.Profile required: Good, positive team player Clear communicator Able to self-organise and prioritise workload Able to undertake basic DIY maintenance and repair works At ease with basic computer tools including but not limited to emails and stock-control spreadsheets Full, current car driving licence Forklift certification desirabletraining can be provided PAT testing certification desirabletraining can be provided
