Job Description

Design for Support and Maintenance Lead SF33229 Devonport About the role Were looking for a Design for Support and Maintenance Lead. The T31e Design for Support and Maintenance Policy lead has the responsibility for day to day control and management of the DfS activities, and for delivery of the Maintenance Policy and associated contractual deliverables. The key responsibilities and accountabilities of this role are:

  • Ownership of the T31 Use Study. To align and correlate Operability with Supportability in T31. Responsibility for the planning, execution and delivery of the Ease of Maintenance solution that underpins sustainability of the solution.
  • Ensure DfS principles are captured in the Supportability Cases.
  • Develop and deliver the T31 Maintenance Philosophy and Policy .Deliver and update the Maintenance Plan.
  • Input to the Operate, Maintain, Diagnose and Repair (OMDR) approach. Support Maintenance Burden modelling.
  • Act as ILS lead for Human Factors Integration and Engineering activity.
  • Deliver or contribute to the delivery of broader supportability deliverables as defined in the T31 Design and Build contract as directed by T31 Head of Supportability. Support Supportability and Design Reviews.
  • What do I need to do the role You will need a Degree qualified in an engineering discipline (mechanical, marine, electrics/electronics or systems) or relevant experience. Hold Chartered Engineer. We would also like you to have the following
  • Detailed understanding of warship systems and equipment installations and maintenance.
  • Comprehensive understanding of Reliability Centred Maintenance techniques.
  • Ability to work in a complex, multi-discipline team.
  • In depth understanding of warship operation, upkeep cycles and scheduling.
  • Experience in the application of Supportability Analysis and Reliability and Maintainability techniques.
  • Experience in operating, maintaining and supporting warships.
  • Lastly, you should have strong written communication skills; the delivery of well structured, unambiguous technical documentation and strong verbal communication skills What else do I need to know
  • The successful candidate will need to satisfy Ministry of Defence security requirements. This may require you to hold or be eligible/capable of achieving Security Check (SC) clearance.
