Job Description

  • Control and develop equipment software revision and supportive documentation
  • Plan, design and specify improvements to existing processes in order to improveproductivity and efficiency and minimise risk from component obsolescence.
  • Innovate, design and specify new processes to meet manufacturing requirements.
  • Ensure software resides in a controlled environment that is accessible to engineersand technicians as appropriate.
  • Advise on where control system upgrades would enhance equipment performance.
  • Identify and remove areas of risk by using performance improvement tools such asPoka-Yoke.
  • Provide support and advice with control system specification and installation of newequipment and the modification of existing equipment.
  • Ensure that the team are issued with all the relevant software documentation,procedures, drawings and parts list in the form of the technical constructionfile.
  • Maintain the site control system specification for new and existing equipment ensuringstandardisation and consultation with controls engineers in other departments.
  • Ensure that software and control systems have been validated to a standard acceptableto the manufacturing team.
  • Liaise with the quality, regulatory, facilities, production and marketing departmentsto obtain their input and / or support to ensure projects are successfullyinitiated and validated within time frame and budget.
  • Carry out other duties as deemed appropriate by the Process Engineering Leader.
EXPERIENCE
  • Experience in a related environment, ideally medical device manufacture or pharmaceutical or demonstrated capability within BD.
  • Demonstrated achievement with software and control systems in a related environment.
  • Experience of programming and fault finding PLC and servo controlled equipment.
  • Experience with Allen Bradley and Omron equipment would be advantageous.
  • Able to generate and modify electrical drawings, preferably using AutoCAD.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Have a first class or upper second class honours degree from a recognised university specialising in engineering disciplines or relevant experience with HND / HNC.
  • Additional postgraduate qualifications or relevant work experience will also be an added advantage, but not essential.
