Peterborough Cathedral is one of the finest Norman cathedrals in England. Founded as a monastic community in 654 AD, it became one of the most significant medieval abbeys in the country, the burial place of two queens and the scene of Civil War upheavals.Today the Cathedral is the most significant building in a diverse and growing city, a tourist destination and a venue for exhibitions, cultural events, meetings and receptions. At its heart it remains, what it has always been, a place of Christian prayerand worship, of ministry and mission; the Mother Church of the Diocese of Peterborough and the seat of the Bishop of Peterborough and all its other activities contribute to or are part of that wider purpose that is spelt out most fully in the Cathedralsvision and values document published in 2019 and found on our website.Raising capital and operational funds from Trusts and grant giving bodies is key to the on-going survival of the Cathedral and its mission, which includes the upkeep and maintenance of the Cathedral building, (Grade 1 Listed) and its estate. To enable thewidest opportunity for grant and trust applications, funds are directed through Peterborough Cathedral Developm ent and Preservation Trust CIO, while strategy and employee management is driven by the Cathedrals governing body, Chapter.Chapter is seeking to appoint a part-time (0.6FTE) fundraiser who will have specific responsibility for identifying opportunities and raising capital and operational funds from trusts and grant giving bodies. The creation of this new role gives an exciting opportunity for a professional, motivated and energetic self-starter to identify and successfully bid for grants that will enable to completion of capital projects or underpin the operational costs of the Cathedral. The successful candidate will play a significant part in the Cathedrals sustainability moving forwards, working alongside the Fundraising Development Manager and in collaboration with relevant colleagues and the Executive Team, as required. Previous experiencein a similar not for profit environment is desirable. Fundraising experience in a faith setting is not a pre-requisite, but an appreciation of the Christian vision and values that we embrace is important.Should you choose apply we look forward to meeting you, showing you what we do and hearing what you can offer.Trust and Grants OfficerKey Areas
