Job Description

About the roleNow working in the latest Asset Management Period, known as AMP 7, we are working towards delivering an approximate £1.3bn programme of work until 2025.Are you ready to join us as we aim to deliver the most exciting and innovative AMP we have ever seenWorking on circa 800 infrastructure projects across the region with sustainability, customer, and innovation at the heart of everything we do brings us a host of exciting and complex challenges to overcome on a day-to-basis.As we look to increase our efficiency whilst outperforming against project and customer expectations, it is essential we plan in the most innovative, robust and accurate fashion. With this in mind, we are looking for a number of Quantity Survryors with someexperience, who are keen to progress, to join the teamWhat youll be doingAs our new Quantity Surveyor, youll take ownership of commercial activities associated with the @Onealliance. You will be a key member of a wholly collaborative team and will use your experience, enthusiasm and skills to help the team drive efficiency andoutperformance.Key responsibilities:

  • Assist the programme area estimating team to ensure robust estimates are provided that align to scope and make allowance for risks and opportunities
  • Subcontracts are properly prepared & reflect agreed scope. Subcontracts are properly managed in accordance with contract requirements including compliance with all responses to communications, payments, early warnings, compensation events,
  • Work closely with the procurement team, Construction Manager and Project Delivery Manager (PDM) to develop & monitor procurement strategy.
  • Work closely with the site Team attending site regularly to ensure they are aware of and can manage the allowances and outputs, provide robust challenge to achieve outperformance, communicate change control and escalate when necessary.
Who were looking forTo be considered for this role, youll have demonstrable experience of working on relevant projects within the Civil engineering sector. You will be educated to degree standard in cost related discipline or engineering.Your ability to communicate complex information to a wide range of audiences whilst working in a pressurised situations to tight deadlines will be crucial. Extensive experience in managing costs in high value projects.About usDay in, day out, our teams deliver amazing projects in challenging conditions; developing, managing and maintaining the vital infrastructure and public spaces that modern economies, societies and communities rely on.Balfour Beatty, the international infrastructure group has been a member of Anglian Waters @one Alliance since 2004, delivering several major water projects.The @one Alliance is a collaborative organisation of consultants and contractors working together to deliver more than half of Anglian Waters capital investment programme.The Anglian Water @one Alliance will design and build around 800 schemes worth approximately £1.5billion between April 2020 and March 2025, known as AMP7 - the current five-year investment period, working closely with Anglian Water operations teams and otherkey stakeholders.The contract is for the entire five-year regulatory period, from 2020 to 2025, with extensions which could take it to 2030, making it one of the longest collaborations in the sector. It operates within an alliance of delivery partners set up by Anglian Water.As a stakeholder within the Anglian Water @one Alliance, Balfour Beatty provide both design and construction services across the whole of Anglian Waters region, which is the largest by geographic area in the UK, stretching from the Humber to the Thamesestuary and from Buckinghamshire to the East Coast. Work is mainly focussed on clean water Infrastructure (water mains), but also includes wastewater infrastructure and both water and wastewater non-infrastructure projects, such as treatment works and pumpingstations.
