Job Description

To set up a timber frame design system in line with the companies and industry standards. To resource and manage a technical design resource to manage and meet the company objectives. Design, Engineering, and innovation of Timber Frame Homes compliant withcurrent industry Legalisation. Experienced Technical Manager/Director with a demonstrated history of working in the construction industry, skilled in Design Management, Mixed-use, Construction Drawings, Building Legislation, and Building MaterialsLiaise with the Taylor Wimpey (TW) Group Technical Department regarding design, engineering, and material strategy.What you will do:

  • The development and implementation of the company structure including establishing departments, roles, and responsibilities in conjunction with other interdepartmental Managers.
  • The development of the timber frame product/package and supply chain route but still maintaining overall design responsibilities.
  • Responsible for the procurement of specialist design and management software including maintenance, training, and implementation.
  • Agree and develop the company timber frame system and obtain all registrations and approvals to meet industry and governing body standards.
  • Responsible for full technical compliance and promoting best practices.
  • Assist in the development of a company quality management system.
  • Resource and manage a technical design department to manage the companies’ objectives.
  • Responsible for an interdepartmental liaison to facilitate compliance with key information and issue dates.
  • Strategic overview of the initial design of the timber frame
  • Integration of HSBCAD into the factory machinery
  • Setting up technical office processes and producers
  • To monitor design capacity.
  • Assess and address training needs within the department.
  • Allocation/redistribution of workload between the design teams to meet required dates
  • To develop and disseminate departmental policy in response to feedback and continuous development
What you will have:Must be able to demonstrate the following:
  • • Experience in the detailing of the full range of timber-framed structures
  • • Have a good working knowledge of Building Regulations, Parts A, B, E, K, L & M
  • • Have a basic understanding of structural loadings and behaviour
  • • Have a working knowledge of the Robust Detail Ltd certification scheme
  • • Have a working knowledge of NHBC and Zurich Warranty scheme requirements.
  • • Must have experience with the typical requirements associated with Lifetime home designs.
  • • To understand the demands of applicable Construction and Design Management regulations and Company Health and Safety policy
  • • Required to lead and build the capacity and competence of the department with an emphasis on positive encouragement and the achievement of high standards. Should promote the personal development of all staff and maintain departmental motivation.
