Job Description

Maintenance EngineerSalary : £44,000 - £48,346 including shift premiumHours : Continental Based Shift Rota, attending 2 x 12-hour days followed by 2 x 12-hour nights, then 4 days off. After a pattern of five of these shifts you have 14 days off and we also give you 18 days off in the summer.This equates to 144 rostered shifts per year and an outstanding work/life balance!Location : PeterboroughAbout CrownAs the world leader in metal packaging technology, Crown designs and manufactures a wide range of innovative and sustainable metal packaging solutions on a global scale. Crown Peterborough will benefit from state-of-the-art manufacturing technologies and modernpractices to support high-speed and highly automated beverage can making.About this opportunityThe purpose of the Maintenance Engineer is to maintain production machinery to the required standard and schedule, enabling efficient operation of can line equipment.Full training will be provided so if you possess the drive to work on your own initiative and pride yourself on making a difference, then this role is for you! Required Education and Qualifications

  • Level 3 Apprenticeship (or equivalent NVQ) in Mechanical Engineering/Maintenance
Main Responsibilities Maintenance, Repairs and Changeovers :
  • Complete planned maintenance activities as per schedule
  • Conduct equipment set-up evaluation (ESE) after maintenance, breakdowns, and tooling replacements
  • Complete size changeovers as per production planning requirements and seek to improve the changeover process
  • Ensure availability and efficient function of re-conditioned spares
  • Support the Production Team during major machine and services breakdowns
Manufacturing of Parts & Unit Spares :
  • Where necessary, re-engineer spare parts using drawings or reverse engineering from existing parts
  • Manufacture unit spares for machines using a full range of engineering machines (lathes, millers, grinders etc.)
  • Manufacture small component parts for production machinery (E.g., bushes, pins, guards etc.)
  • Manufacture, fit and maintain machine guards, where required
  • Re-dress grinding machine wheels
  • Maintain all safe working practices as required by Health and Safety Legislation and Power Press Regulations
  • Maintain a good standard of housekeeping by regular cleaning of machines and floor and disposing of scrap
Tool Care :
  • Service, maintain, re-assemble, and ensure a quality supply of tool parts associated with the manufacture of beverage cans
Additional Duties :
  • When production demands determine, operate, maintain, repair, and improve all production machinery to produce maximum output of the required quality
  • Comply with all administration procedures associated with tooling maintenance
  • Assist in trials, installation and commissioning of equipment as directed by immediate Manager
  • Work flexibly in any work area as far as safety and capability allows
