Job Description

Five Education are excited to be working with a mainstream school based in South Gloucestershire who is looking for a Key Stage 1 Teaching Assistant. They are recruiting an experienced in class worker for 1:1 support. The candidate will be working with a child with Speech, Language and Communication Needs, they will be able to use alternative and augmentative communication methods. This may include PECS & Makaton and possibly signalong and Speech Generating Devices (SGD).This role will start in January 2021.Responsibilities and duties:

Assisting and supporting a child with communication needs

Using alternative and augmentative communication methods (AAC) to support the child and helping them to access the full curriculum

Supporting the child with self-regulation techniques as they have some challenging behaviour stemming from not being understood

Assisting the child with their social development

Prepare resources for differentiation under instruction from the teacher

Essential Criteria:

Experience working with children who have SEN

Experience using AAC methods such as signalong or PECS would be an advantage

Patience, flexibility and dedication

Have a right to work in the UK (A Valid Visa)

Two recent child based references and relevant DBS/ Police checks

Access to bicycle, car or near main bus routes

Able to work 8.30-3.30, 5 days per week term time only
