Our ambitious and exciting vision is to work at local, national and international levels, leading innovation and sustainable development in agriculture and rural sectors.An exciting position has arisen for a Laboratory Scientist in Parasitology at SRUC Veterinary Services, Pentland Science Park. The successful applicant will work as part of a small team preparing and analysing parasitological samples submitted for both ecto-and endo-parasite identification. This post will include (but is not confined to) the following duties:- Preparation and examination of samples from farm animals, companion animals and exotic species for ecto- and endo-parasite identification Sample storage and disposal Preparation of reagents The development of new methods/procedures as appropriate Routine maintenance of laboratory equipment Selection and procurement of laboratory equipment and consumables Data entry in LIMS Perform internal and external quality assurance assessments Undertake monthly audits Comply with health and safety proceduresApplicants should be qualified to Degree level in a suitable discipline or hold extensive equivalent laboratory experience in parasite diagnostics. The postholder must be able to work well both alone and within a small team, and possess the ability to communicatewell, both verbally and written.
