Job Description

ROLE: Production EngineerLOCATION: WellingboroughHOURS OF WORK: Days (Early finish on Friday)BASIC SALARY: £42K plus £4,200 bonusADDITIONAL BENEFITS: Private Medical, Bonus, Death in Service, PensionCompany ProfileOur client is seeking a Production Engineer to join their organisation based in Wellingborough on a permanent basis. The successful candidate will have a solid background in manufacturing preferably within a busy multi-disciplined, high mix low volume, hightechnology manufacturing environment. They will seek ways to improve and develop the manufacturing processes by creating and developing tooling, performing root cause analysis and implementing Continuous Improvement initiatives.In this Production Engineer role, you will:

  • Design/implement production tooling/fixtures utilising Solidworks ensuring all items have been through a process validation
  • Initiate, develop and implement improvements to equipment to reduce equipment downtime and increase efficiency / throughput in all areas, including repairing of the machinery to a basic level.
  • Develop manufacturing capability through investment and optimisation of existing tooling /resources. This includes design and build of tooling using Solidworks.
  • Be able to read, interpret and update engineering drawings utilising company standard drawing packages (Solidworks/Autocad).
  • Ensure production have all required blanking flanges and gaskets for pressure testing.
  • Design and manufacture any special tooling that may be required for bespoke designs.
  • Assist with make vs. buy decisions and project manage out-sourcing or in-sourcing opportunities
  • Become the company specialist person for designated processes.
  • Have a good knowledge of Lean and Continuous Improvement techniques.
To be successful as a Production Engineer:
  • A multi skilled engineer used to working in a high technology engineering / manufacturing environment.
  • HNC in a Mechanical discipline
  • Excellent understanding of production tooling concepts / design
  • Experience in using and reporting using Continuous Improvement tools - 5S / Six Sigma / 8D / Kaizen
  • Broad process knowledge including, machining, assembly (both mechanical and electrical) and test.
