Job Description

Our client, a highly respected public sector organisation based in Paisley, require a Street Lighting Maintenance Technician on a temporary basis. The salary for the role is £16.00 per hour. Core hours are Monday to Thursday 8.00am - 4.30pm and Friday8.00am - 1.00pm - 37 hours per week. Occasional weekend overtime may be offered for which you would receive an enhanced rate and occasional paid standby duty.Main purpose of role:To deliver an effective Street Lighting repair and maintenance service to customers through the front line operations team. You will be required to hold an ERG 39 Authorised Certificate and investigate / survey faults on the network and carry out the necessaryrepairs. You will participate in an out of hours standby service to provide emergency cover. Ensure that health and safety and other legislative requirements are met.Accountabilities/Responsibilities:

  • Day to day maintenance and repair of the street lighting network
  • Investigate and survey faults on the network and carry out requisite repairs
  • Attend emergency repairs during working hours as instructed
  • Participate in the out of hours standby rota to provide emergency cover for the network
  • Locate cable faults on underground networks
  • Carry out inspection & testing on Local Authority and Scottish Power networks in compliance with BS 7671
  • Work in conjunction with appropriate civils works
  • Adhere to all Health & Safety requirements including the Councils, risk assessments, safe working practices and CDM Plan
  • Work with the Administrative Technicians, ensuring work is appropriately scheduled and dispatched within the given KPIs
  • Ensure electronic and manual completion of jobs is undertaken for recharge and appropriate utilisation of mobile devices
  • Carry out pre inspection and measurements to assist in the co-ordination of materials to allow the direct trades staff to work effectively
  • Monitor work progress, maintain quality control standards, and report deficiencies in the implementation of work to the Facilities Officer (Hard FM-Business Development)
  • Conduct regular inspection of plant and materials ensuring both health and safety and stock control are managed recording findings
  • Ensure proper authorisation for the procurement of materials from stores and suppliers
  • Participate in vehicle utilisation within service guidelines including vehicle checks, imprest stock, licence checks, accident investigation, service schedules etc
  • Maintain appropriate databases/ information systems
Key Skills and Requirements:
  • Able to attain valid ERG 39 certificate
  • Hold current 17th Edition IEE Regs working towards 18th Edition
  • BS7671 Inspection & Testing or equivalent is desirable
  • Experience of working within a street lighting environment
  • Able to carry out risk assessments
  • Attending emergency situations such as RTAs
  • Diagnostic inspections of a street lighting network
  • Knowledge of NICEIC & IEE Regulations including adherence to BS7671
  • Populate standard electrical certificate to industry requirements
  • Current IPAF card
  • Effective oral & written communication skills
  • Self-motivated and able to work without supervision
  • Able to work flexibly and accommodate business needs
  • Organise your own workload to meet KPIs
  • Meet deadlines and prioritise workload
  • Current full driving licence
