School of Computing, Engineering and Physical SciencesREF002Lecturer in PhysicsAc3: £47,047 - £52,841per annum (Pay Award Pending August)Full time,PermanentTHE POST - Lecturer in Physics The School of Computing, Engineering and Physical Sciences is seeking applications from individualsto join the Division of Physical Sciences as a Lecturer in Physics.The role will include research acivity aligned to our Institute for Thin Films, Sensors,and Imaging. The role will primarily be based at the UWS Paisley campus, but a significant component of the role will be teaching in China, on a jointly-delivered programme covering physics, optoelectronics, and thin-film technology. The successful applicantwill be required to travel internationally to teach at UWS partner institutiuons as deemed necessary to fulfil the University’s commitments. This would be for periods of upto several months at a time. The successful applicant will join a dedicated team whostrive to continuously inspire our students and wider University community - and, through modern teaching and impactful research, continue to deliver innovative solutions to some of the world’s biggest challenges.The successful candidate should have the following:

  • Undergraduate degree and PhD in physics, or equivalent qualifications in closely related subjects.
  • Willingness to teach in China for extended periods of upto several months, several times per year.
  • Established track record of research in thin films, sensors, and imaging of a closely related area, with a publication record commensurate with level of experience.
  • Experience of delivering, developing, and coordinating modules in relevant areas of phyiscs including optoelectronics or thin-film technology or other closely related areas, at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
  • Experience of hybrid-delivery teaching and of use of authentic/real-world assessment approaches.
  • Experience of learning, teaching and assessment within higher education, particularly with cohorts of students from diverse cultures and backgrounds.
  • Commitment to delivering high-quality teaching and supporting an outstanding student experience.
  • Fellowship of Advance HE or equivalent.
