Job Description

School of Education & Social SciencesPaisley CampusLecturer in Criminology and Criminal Justice - REQ002157The Criminal Justice programme at UWS is expanding and we are pleased to announce that we would like to recruit a Lecturer in Criminal Justice to join the academic team within the School of Education and Social Sciences at the UWS Paisley Campus.You will be joining a small and diverse team with a broad range of academic and professional practice. You will be expected to make a broad contribution to the academic work of the Criminal Justice and Criminology team and a strong contribution to the researchactivity and other forms of scholarly activity as part of our department.Teaching duties will include both undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, assessment and on-going curriculum development and management. You will also be expected to supervise undergraduate and postgraduate research students and take on an administrativerole within the team.Our ideal candidate will have expertise in social and criminological theory’, historical criminology’ and/ or criminological/forensic psychology’, however other specialisms will be considered.The successful candidate should have the following:

  • Doctoral qualification in a relevant subject/discipline
  • Fellowship of Advance HE, Postgraduate Certificate in Academic Practice or equivalent teaching qualification
  • Experience of learning, teaching and assessment within Higher Education at undergraduate and postgraduate levels
  • An active research profile and evidence of external engagement
  • Commitment to delivering high quality teaching and supporting an outstanding student experience.
The post will be based at the Paisley Campus although travel across the other four campus locations in Scotland and the UK is expected.We welcome candidates with experience in leadership, development, and coordination of programmes, having experience in supporting, managing and advising colleagues and students in Higher Education. The School of Education and Social Sciences is a multi-disciplineSchool and the successful candidate will be engaged in cross/interdisciplinary working and programme design and development to support positive results in attainment, student experience and graduate destinations, particularly in relation to postgraduate professionaldevelopment.
