Job Description

Estates SolutionsTHE POST - Electrical Services Manager The University of West of Scotland is recruiting an Electrical Services Manager to join the Estates team. This is a significant role in the development and delivery of the University’s property estate portfolio and statutory compliance requirements, beinginvolved in the development and implementation of Estates long term goals. The postholder will also provide advice and guidance as well as monitoring and reporting upon the performance of all property and associated relevant construction projects, compliancecontracts and services.As an Electrical Services Manager your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing the University’s Private Network 11KV High-Voltage electrical distribution and Low voltage electrical distribution systems
  • Leading a team of multi-campus Electrical support staff and assisting in the assessment of training needs within the electrical section, ensuring that all work carried out by direct or contract labour is in compliance with applicable Health & Safety requirements.
  • Monitoring and reviewing of existing Health & Safety procedures, preparation of risk assessments / method statements, issuing and management of appropriate permits to work.
  • Using Computer Aided Facilities Management (CAFM) application software to develop an effective planned preventive maintenance programme for all plant, equipment and associated systems, to meet University requirements
  • Prepare and organise the provision of specialist maintenance contracts with respect to relevant legislation, manufacturer’s recommendations, and industry best practice and in line with UWS procedures
The successful candidate should have the following:
  • An appropriate degree level qualification in a relevant discipline or equivalent specialist expertise.
  • Professional experience of working in a property environment
  • Evident experience of engineering systems design, commissioning, operation, maintenance and performance
  • Demonstrable experience of budget control.
  • Experience in the use of Computer Aided Facilities Management (CAFM) software
  • Extensive experience in relevant regulatory framework and health and safety regulations applicable to the post including but not limited to Asbestos, Legionella, Electrical Safety, LOLER, Gas Safety, PUWER and CDM
