Job Description

Commercial Services (Catering)Paisley Campus (May be required to work at other campuses)Catering & Hospitality Services Manager Salary: Grade 4 £26,455- 31,396 per annumFull time: 35 hours per weekPermanentTHE POST - Catering & Hospitality Services Manager The University of West of Scotland is recruiting a Retail and Hospitality Services Manager to join their commercial services (catering) team. As part of Commercial Services, the post holder is part of the management team with responsibility for assistingand supporting the Catering Operations Manager in the planning, delivery and management of service excellence across the catering service at the Paisley campus.Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Working with the Catering Operations Manager to develop clear objectives for the food service staff, reviewing performance and objectives through the University PDR process, providing motivation and encouragement and training to deliver service excellenceat all times
  • Supporting the Catering Operations Manager to monitor budgets and associated key performance indicators for designated areas of the business and propose recommendations for improvements/actions as necessary to ensure operational budgets are met.
  • Contribute in the planning for marketing and promotional events, advising on uptake of promotional campaigns and recommending changes as required.
  • Ensuring the implementation and compliance of all University policies and procedures, in particular those relating to health and safety, COSHH, manual handling, customer service and in conjunction with the Head Chef, food hygiene.
  • Assisting with the development and use of EPOS, computerised booking systems and other related software
  • Providing support in in the planning, coordinating and delivery of conferences, functions and special events liaising with conferencing manager, UWS colleagues, chefs and departmental colleagues.
The successful candidate should have the following:
  • Intermediate Food Hygiene Certificate
  • HND in hospitality management or equivalent
  • Full current driving licence
  • Proven track record of success in retail or hospitality - with management experience in a similar role and a wide ranging knowledge of the whole function
  • Experience of organising large scale catering events, including buffets and functions
  • Experience of working in customer driven commercially orientated services
  • Budget management and resource planning experience
