Job Description

Job Title: Lead EngineerJob Location: Paddington Train Station and to cover smaller stations at Castle Bar Park, Drayton Green and South Greenford (comes with Rail Pass - no personal use)An opportunity has arisen for a Lead Engineer with an M&E background to join Paddington Train Station. The successful candidate will be required to work Monday to Friday on the Paddington and surrounding stations. The main aim is to provide all-round engineeringsupport and maintaining the site infrastructure whilst having a detailed understanding of all new or current building services systems and contingency procedures on the site and complying with the Health & Safety/building codes of practice.Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a close liaison and working relationship with the Engineering Supervisor and Contract Delivery Manager
  • Attend all allocated training courses.
  • Completion of SFG20 PPMs and reactive tasks and update the system to meet contractual obligations.
  • Ensure that daily checks are completed and repair or report any defects using the helpdesk or reactive works ticketing system
·Maintain accurate records for both ppm and reactive works
  • Ensure engineering standards are maintained to maximise efficient operation and reliability of plant and associated systems
  • Responsible for M&E stock control
  • Ensure any accidents and near misses are reported to line managers
  • Maintain and supervise, issues arising, ongoing works, special task requests, standard of housekeeping
  • Comply with both statutory and company health, safety and environmental regulations and policies.
  • Timely implementation and recording of all statutory inspections including accurate recording of electrical, fire and water hygiene records
  • Control of 3rd party contractors including monitoring of work performance and standards, including internal auditing where applicable in conjunction with the Contract Delivery Manager
  • Ensure that Specialist Service Provider worksheets are signed off that quality of work is inspected, and recommendations are escalated to the Contract Delivery Manager
  • Ensure that Plant areas, workshops, stores, changing/rest areas etc. are kept to the highest level of housekeeping
  • Will be expected to operate, and trouble shoot all building systems but not be limited to the following:
BMS and electrical monitoring, Air handling / conditioning, Domestic water services, Fire prevention and detection systems, AC, DC single phase and three phase motors and associated controls Low voltage switch panels and associated breakers. Water pumps,control valves and Heating plant.Qualifications and Experience:
  • Approved apprenticeship or appropriate experience within Building Services
  • Level 2/3 - City & Guilds - Building Services Engineering HVAC or Electrical/ Mechanical or equivalent and competent in plumbing, joinery, tiling and painting
  • 17/18th Edition IEE
  • A demonstratable knowledge of building services engineering
  • Practical experience within the building services engineering industry
  • Health & Safety awareness is essential
  • At least 3 years of engineering experience is a must
  • Proactive approach to undertake all tasks required
  • Excellent numeracy and literacy skills
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience of working in busy commercial contracts, managing, and achieving KPIs and SLAs.
·Logical thinker in fault finding situations
  • Excellent Interpersonal Skills
  • PASMA (preferable)
