We seek a motivated and dynamic radiotherapy physicist to fill this three year fixed term post, providing support for all areas of the service including the NHS England commissioned stereotactic service, the development of brachytherapy service, the implementation of our treatment planning system, Raystation, the implementation of SABR and to participate in the roll out of projects being undertaken by the Trust.You will join a team of 30 scientists, dosimetrists, engineers & technicians providing a full range of complex radiotherapy services at both, Charing Cross and Hammersmith Hospitals to a catchment population of 1.3 million in West London.The radiotherapy equipment includes six Varian linacs of which four are TrueBeams, a Philips Brilliance CT scanner and an Xstrahl superficial unit; an Elekta Flexitron brachytherapy unit is based at Hammersmith Hospital in a dedicated brachytherapy suite. Two of the TrueBeam Linacs one of which is a TrueBeam STx; also have the ExacTrac system. The department is commissioned by NHS England to deliver stereotactic cranial radiotherapy (SRS), which is delivered on the TrueBeam STx and planned using Brainlab Elements. The department is currently commissioning SABR for all sites, starting with lung SABR. The department has excellent experience in delivering education and training in medical physics at all levels; PTP, STP and HSST, both locally and nationally and hosts the London North Medical Physics Training Consortium. The department also has close links with Imperial College with departmental staff appointed as Honorary Lecturers with Imperial College and delivering medical physics modules on M.Sc. programmes.The department is active with research through the Centre for Clinical Application of Particles and direct staff involvement with on-going clinical trials and has a positive attitude towards CPD being pro-active in funding training and educational opportunities including leadership courses.You should have experience in the field of radiotherapy and be an effective communicator. The successful candidate should be on the HCPC Register as a Clinical Scientist, although applications are also welcome from candidates who are within 12 months of achieving HCPC registration.
