Job Description

Take a closer look at our endoscopy nursing service “I have nothing but praise for the kindness, gentle humour, professionalism and caring that was shown to me by all.” Ex-patient, Department of Endoscopy, St Mary’s Hospital, March 2019 Come and join a team that enjoys cross-site working for optimal nursing experience where we deliver highly skilled, safe and efficient services for our patients. You’ll have the opportunity to learn, develop and train to the highest standards to become an expert in delivering care to our patients in a range of endoscopic therapeutic interventions. We are proud of our nurse-led discharge service and we work from state-of-the-art units, specialising in:

  • upper and lower gastro-intestinal conditions
  • complex hepatobiliary disease
  • bronchoscopy
  • bowel cancer screening
    • We also deliver a range of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, including:
  • therapeutic upper and lower GI endoscopy - a non-surgical procedure used to view the digestive tract using an endoscope
  • endoscopic retrograde cholangio-pancreatography (ERCP) – a procedure to examine the pancreatic and bile ducts
  • SpyGlass cholangioscopy – designed for the diagnostic and therapeutic management of biliary system disease
  • endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) - or echo-endoscopy where endoscopy is combined with ultrasound to obtain images of the internal organs
  • bronchoscopy - allows the airway to be viewed using a bronchoscope
    • Our other services include a general anaesthetic service at St Mary’s and Hammersmith hospitals. We provide an endoscopy nurse on-call service to improve our patient outcome and to meet the National Institute for Clinical Excellence (NICE) upper gastrointestinal bleed guidance.Benefits include opportunities for career development, flexible working and wellbeing, plus a staff recognition scheme.
