Opportunities in respiratory nursing that’ll take your breath away “I spent my last three months as a student on the ward and I came back just because I absolutely loved it here. I’m supported by the practice nurse educator and the matron, and I also have a mentor that’s dedicated to the ward. We’re all very happy here. We get on well as a team, so it’s a nice environment to be in.” Corrine Scannell, Staff Nurse, Manvers Ward If you’re looking to develop your acute respiratory nursing skills, our nurse patient ratio of 1:2 makes this a great place to start your career. We offer our Band 5 staff nurses a range of specialist training, support, respiratory courses and competencies in respiratory nursing to allow you to grow and develop within this exciting speciality. In June 2018 we opened a dedicated 8 bed Acute Respiratory Unit (ARU) where we care specifically for patients requiring non-invasive ventilation, tracheostomy care and use monitoring and blood gas analysis to ensure that our patients have all the support they need at the earliest opportunity.Manvers is a 17 bed respiratory ward attached to the ARU where we treat patients with both acute and chronic respiratory disorders.
