Job Description

Learning Support AssistantLocation: WakefieldStart date: ImmediateContract type: Long term, temporary.Job type: full/part timeSchedule: Mon- FriSalary: £70 - £80Leader Education is currently recruiting for multiple Learning Support Assistants for a specialist SEND school in Wakefield.This good school provides a safe space and educates pupils aged 11-19 with severe learning needs. The school has a range of specialist facilities and bespoke curriculum to promote learning and maximise pupil potential. The ideal candidate will have previousexperience of working with pupils with additional needs in a school setting.The job:

  • Provide support to students with SEND needs in a classroom, small group or 1-2-1 setting
  • Understand and follow individual education and health care plans
  • To take direction and assist the class teacher
  • Support students in managing and regulating their feelings
  • Ensure pupils are well prepared for the next stages of education and adult life
  • Provide consistency and stability for pupils
  • Engage with the students throughout their learning whilst in the classroom
  • Create and maintain supportive, safe, and calming relationships with the students
  • Liaising with SENCO and the designated safeguarding lead to promote positive outcomes.
You:
  • Have experience of working with children/students with SEND needs
  • Are patient, sensitive and compassionate
  • Are understanding and have empathy
  • Have a passion for teaching and learning
  • Ability to make learning enjoyable and fun
  • Ideally Team Teach trained but not essential - free training is available
  • Are motivated and enthusiastic
  • Have great communication skills
  • Have a fun but firm presence.
