Job Description

Youth Worker - Special Educational Needs SchoolLocation: Oldham, United KingdomJob Type: Full-timeSalary: Competitive, based on experienceApplication Deadline: Open until filled We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Youth Worker to join our team at a Special Educational Needs (SEN) school located in Oldham. As a Youth Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting and empowering young people with special educationalneeds, enabling them to achieve their full potential and lead fulfilling lives.Responsibilities:

  • Establish positive relationships with students, fostering a supportive and inclusive environment.
  • Provide one-on-one and group support to students with special educational needs, including assisting with personal care and daily living activities.
  • Implement and facilitate engaging and age-appropriate activities, workshops, and educational programs that promote social and emotional development.
  • Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and other support staff to develop and implement individualized education and behavior plans.
  • Monitor and evaluate the progress of students, keeping accurate records and reporting any concerns or achievements to the appropriate team members.
  • Encourage students independence, self-confidence, and decision-making skills.
  • Promote positive behavior management strategies and ensure the safety and well-being of students at all times.
Qualifications:
  • Previous experience working with children and young people with special educational needs is highly desirable.
  • A relevant qualification in youth work, special education, social work, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of special educational needs, including autism spectrum disorders, learning disabilities, and behavioral challenges.
  • Ability to build rapport and establish effective relationships with young people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to actively listen and empathize with students.
  • Patience, resilience, and the ability to adapt to challenging situations.
  • Understanding of safeguarding procedures and the ability to ensure the welfare and protection of young people.
