Job Description

Empowring Learning are recruiting on behalf of an Oldham based college for a SEND Transition and Progression Mentor.The SEND Transition Progression Mentor:Supporting High need students with and without EHCPs to successfully transition into college and monitor and support positive attendance, behaviour, retention and progress while on programme.Provide support for students with SEND to progress at the end of their study programme.To actively contribute to the planning and delivery of a high-quality additional learning support service, aligned to the Colleges curriculum strategic plan, mission and values.Actively engage with achieving the strategic aims of the Oldham College to reduce NEETs and increase participation of the most vulnerable students.To act as Lead Professional for a case load of students, working with other college support teams and outside agencies to ensure a coherent team around the student to avoid duplication and aid communication between staff.Ensure that the support assessments are designed, distributed and delivered in a relevant way and on a flexible basis to meet student and where appropriate employer needs.Requirements:Recent research or other CPD activity linked to safeguarding / life skills* Level 2 or equivalent in maths and English* Mental Health First Aid qualification* Experience of supporting vulnerable young people in their: education, transition to Post 16 education, employment or training* Experience in the delivery of Additional Support, youth work, mentoring or related service* Experience in working with schools, colleges, and various agencies to support transition activities and reporting* An understanding of and commitment to Inclusive Learning and Disability Equality* Understanding of and experience of working towards the Graduated Approach of Assess, Plan, Do and Review* Significant experience of providing support that improves recruitment, retention and achievement rates of students* Experience in tracking the progression/destination of students.Our Principal, says: "This is a very important appointment, the Additional Learning Support Department is central to our plans for the future, and we are looking for high calibre candidates.
