Job Description

SEND Learning Support MentorRole location: OldhamStarting date- ImmediateSalary- £1350-£1600 PM depending on experienceEmpowering Learning are working with a Special Needs School in Bury. They are seeking a Special Needs Learning Support Mentor to join them to start immediately working throughout Primary and Secondary Schools in Oldham. The role is particularly challengingyet rewarding as everyday will be different.All staff at the two-form entry school share a concept in creating a secure environment for the children, to help them build upon their psychosocial skills. The school follow their concept to ensure the children develop these vital skills and attributesto become the best version of themselves. Therefore, the ideal candidate will be an outstanding communicator and patient to motivate those who are disconnected with education.Key Skills

  • Ability to plan and prepare programmes of work, appropriately differentiated, for the delivery of the curriculum.
  • Ability to assess the needs of individual students and maintain appropriate records for the purpose of continuity and progress in curriculum areas.
  • Knowledge of the requirements of delivering education to students with AEN/SEN, very able, LAC or who have other individual needs.
  • Ability to select appropriate resources to create a stimulating learning environment.
  • Ability to relate and communicate effectively with parents and encourage their participation in their childs education.
  • Ability to direct the work of a teaching assistant.
  • Ability to work closely with other members of staff in the development of the curriculum and pastoral work of the school.
  • Excellent time and task management skills.
  • Understanding of multicultural education and other issues related to ensuring that classroom organisation and practices is not discriminatory
  • Evidence of exemplary classroom practice with students with SEMH difficulties in a similar setting.
