Job Description

This is a permanent days based position for a Production Engineer in Oldham. The role offers a salary up to £45k as well as a good benefits package and career development. There are also International opportunities available within the group.Client DetailsThe client is an International, diversified manufacturer of highly engineered industrial products based in Oldham, that is at the cutting edge of technology and always looking to develop superior products for new and existing customers.DescriptionAs the Production Engineer you will "own" a production process and develop, implement and improve manufacturing processes to ensure products are created in an efficient and cost effective manner, while complying with health and safety procedures and qualitystandards.Your responsibilities will include however will not be limited to:

  • Defining, implementing and improving work flow and key metrics in each production cell.
  • Attending and contributing to the daily Gemba walk review of the KPI boards
  • Designing & implementing production jigs, fixtures and tools.
  • Defining and maintaining TPM standards for equipment.
  • Creating, reviewing and maintaining SOPs.
  • Providing support and training to colleagues.
  • Identifying and implementing Innovation/Smart Factory projects, and being a contributor to the innovation process.
  • Driving NPI projects, including set up of production lines and new processes, documentation and training.
  • CAPEX projects, from concept to installation, commissioning and production hand-over.
  • Implementing and maintaining APQP core tools into the production line.
  • Creating, maintaining and updating bills of materials (BOMs) through the use of SAP.
  • Creating and implementing Engineering Changes following standard change process.
  • Driving Continuous Improvement (CI) activities on existing and new processes & products.
  • Following 5S standards in all Production Engineering locations.
ProfileThe successful Production Engineer will:
  • previously have worked in a similar Production Engineering position ideally within electronics or automotive industries - ESSENTIAL
  • be available immediately or on a short notice period - ESSENTIAL
  • be PC literate, including ideally AutoCAD and/or Solid works or equivalent - ESSENTIAL
  • have a strong understanding of Lean Manufacturing Techniques such as SMED, TPM, VSM, Problem Solving, Kaizen - ESSENTIAL
  • have an understanding of APQP Core Tools such as Process Flow Charts, DFMEA, PFMEA, Control Plan, MSA and SPC - ESSENTIAL
