Job Description

Are you an experienced Carpentry and Joiner working within The NHS or a similar environment If so, you could be the person we are looking for!NHS Professionals run the temporary work placements at The Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust, and we are looking for a Maintenance Craftsperson [Carpentry and Joinery] to start ASAP!Location: Royal Oldham Hospital OL12Department: Estates and FacilitiesSalary: Band 3Pay: £10.09 per hourHours of workMonday - Friday 9-5 and 7-3 Key Responsibilities will include:

  • Provide emergency recall to ensure that emergency repairs occurring out of normal hours are attended to.
  • Work overtime to carry out emergency repairs as required by management.
  • To liaise and work with other trades/disciplines including external agencies (contractors).
  • Participate fully in the Labour Management Scheme completing timesheets and job dockets and providing all relevant information.
  • Interpret detailed building drawings and specifications to instruct and advise others.
  • Must be able to work efficiently with minimum supervision.
  • At all times to carry Trust communication devices [pagers and/or two-way radios] to facilitate immediate response to emergencies.
  • Diagnose and repair faults on complex building elements, deal with new situations as they arise and pass on knowledge to others.
  • Manufacture, assemble, erect and install new building work as required.
  • Carry out installation, repairs and planned preventative maintenance on all aspects of the building fabric.
  • Carry out statutory inspections and testing on fire hydrants and complete all necessary documentation.
  • Undertake non-complex tasks including fault finding of other trades.
  • Install heavy building elements using lifting equipment in compliance with Trust policies.
  • Use own initiative, knowledge and experience when designing, quantifying and installation of all aspects of building work in accordance with current guidance and legislation.
  • Participate in the departments Equipment Release and Permit to Work Systems.
  • Drive Trust vehicles as and when required.
  • Assemble and erect mobile and aluminium scaffolding towers as required.
  • Monitor and ensure efficient running of the building plant and equipment.
  • Must be able to achieve acceptable standards of workmanship and productivity.
  • Report performance issues relating to building elements to the appropriate Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Report on levels of non-stock items in sub stores to relevant Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Skills & Experience:
  • Experience in working in a healthcare environment
  • Ability to be able to read and complete written paperwork
  • Ability to use electronic job system
  • Be able to work under pressure
  • Flexible enough to work various shift patterns
