Job Description

Job Title - Design ManagerLocation - OldhamSalary - £58,000 / £68,000 + an excellent packageThe client / Project Cobalt are currently working with a global tier cone contractor that are looking for Design manager to work on a major hospital project in the North West. The project includes new build / extensions and fit out. The successful candidate with manage the on site design process at RIBA Stage 4 and 5 - Technical Design and Construction, in accordance with the our clients Design Management processes and procedures.Tasks & Responsibilities:Assist the Regional/Senior Design Manager in discharging their tender stage tasks and responsibilitiesReview the Project Information including the Employers Requirements, Contractors Proposals and Design Team appointments to brief the Design Team on their contractual obligations and their corresponding dutiesAgree, in conjunction with the site team, the specialist subcontractor procurement strategyProduce and agree the Project Stage Design Programme and associated Design Deliverables with the primary, secondary and specialist subcontract designers and monitor / report on progressProduce and agree the Project Stage Specialist sub-contractor Procurement Schedule and Installation/Commission ProgrammeMonitor / report on progress to ensure overall progress against programme is maintainedEstablish and agree the project Common Data Environment (CDE), the project file structure, virtual file links, email file links, security rights, work flows and voting rightsEstablish the frequency and content for all design coordination workshops and progress meetingsProduce the project specific Design Management Plan (DMP) and BIM Execution Plan (BEP) and monitor complianceClose out design assumptions, design opportunities (VE), design risks (HSE/CDM) made during the early stages of the design or the tender processVerify that all new design documentation is compliant, coordinated, affordable and buildable on a weekly basis in accordance with the DMPManage the submission and timely approval of all reviewable design dataAssist in the commercial and technical review of specialist subcontract tender returns, establish interfaces and review alternative designPrepare technical submissions for alternative designs, system, component, product and or material proposals for client approvalProgress the discharge of all outstanding Planning Conditions and the approval of all Building Regulation mattersManage the post contract change control process in accordance with the DMPEnsure all primary, secondary and specialist subcontractor Design Risk Assessments are produced for review and approvalChair and record the outcomes of all primary, secondary and specialist subcontractor design workshops/meetingsObtain responses to primary, secondary designers TQs from the clients team and specialist subcontractor TQs from the primary designersMonitor the production and quality of all design documentation against the agreed Design Quality / Key Performance IndicatorsReview and approve primary and secondary designers Applications for PaymentObtain Design Reports from primary and secondary designers to accompany the monthly CVRsProgress the approval of all specified design certificates including, CDM, BREEAM, Secure by DesignEnsure that all changes to primary and secondary design work are incorporated in the As-Built design documentationUndertake design performance reviews for all primary, secondary and specialist subcontractor designersAssist the Document Controller in archiving all final issue design documentation, for all As-Built Drawings, O&M Manuals, Health and Safety File and Post Construction Stage BREEAM certificateUndertake or commission design autopsies on primary / secondary design defectsProduce a project specific Best Practice / Lessons Learnt paperCSCS:Required: Relevant CardQualifications:Desired: Degree or equivalentProfessional Membership:Desired: CIOB and or CIBSERelevant Experience:Desired: Healthcare & Medical Research / Biosciences5 years plus in Design Management role for projects in the value of £5 to 50mP22 Framework procurementBuilding Services competencyIf you feel that this is the right job for you, then please apply with your latest CV.
