Job Description

Come join the MDT as a Consultant Psychiatrist at All Saints hospital, a well-established specialist Deaf and complex communication needs Service offering low secure and locked rehabilitation service for Deaf men in Oldham, Greater Manchester. The servicehas 20 beds in total- 6 low secure beds and 14 rehabilitation beds.Working 37.5 hours a week, with the Multi-Disciplinary Team delivering patient centred care providing a cultural and linguistic Mental Health. Adapted Assessments and Treatments. Sign Language (BSL). Access to BSL Interpreters will be provided.Your responsibilities will include:

  • Management of complex cases with multiple pathology
  • Care plan and treatment formulation, guidance on evidence-based treatment and effectiveness
  • Liaison and collaborative working with care co-ordinators, commissioners, families and carers and other services/agencies
  • Mental Health Act implementation and liaison with Ministry of Justice
  • Multi-disciplinary, multi-agency and partnership working including oversight of the physical health management of patients in partnership with the visiting General Practitioner
  • Administrative duties associated with the care of patients including ensuring all NHSE contractual obligations are met
  • Contribution to clinical governance and responsibility for setting and monitoring standards
  • Participation in clinical audit and quality improvement activities and service/team evaluation and the planning of future service developments
  • Maintenance of professional registration with the General Medical Council and to abide by professional codes of conduct
  • Undertake assessments of referrals/ admissions to the service
  • Diagnose and formulate management plans in complex presentations.
  • Work in a collaborative way with multidisciplinary teams including external partners.
  • Lead clinical decision making in the multidisciplinary team to ensure the delivery of high quality care
  • Develop service clinical priorities in line with national and professional guidance and standards
  • Participation in the on call rota for Elysium North West Hospitals.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
  • MB BS or equivalent medical qualification
  • Full GMC registration with licence to practice
  • MRCPsych or MRCPsych equivalent approved by the Royal College of Psychiatrists
  • To hold Section 12(2) approval to work in England and Approved clinician status.
  • Recent experience at a senior level
  • Commitment to shared leadership and collaborative working.
  • Previous experience of working within Deaf services and BSL is desirable.
