Job Description

We are looking for a Head Chef at a local steakhouse famous for farming, butchering and cooking with their own produce.The establishment not only has a 200 seat restaurant (steakhouse) but a butchers/deli, tea room and plenty of outdoor family space. 90% of all ingredients used come from within their own farm so a fresh, quality dish is of the utmost importance.As a Head Chef, your roles will include but not restricted to:

  • Lead the kitchen team to produce efficient and quality service
  • Able to create new menus keeping in line with the restaurants traditional ways
  • Ensure Health and Safety and Food Safety Standards are maintained in line with company policy
  • Work with a variety of exotic meats and understand how best to cook them
  • Examine employee performance and recognise what training is needed to achieve potential
  • Have a full understanding of allergens and incorporate this into menus
  • Organising kitchen rotas
  • Maintain on target budget
Things to know:
  • £35,000 per annum + share of tips. Negotiable for the right candidate.
  • Permanent staff paid fortnightly on Wednesdays
  • Wednesday-Sunday rotation (Mondays & Tuesdays closed)
  • 48 hours working time across the week with 30 min breaks each day
  • Overtime paid at time and a half when required.
What you will need:
  • Food hygiene certification (basic/intermediate)
  • NVQ 1 & 2 Diploma in Food Preparation and Cookery
  • Other certificates in the culinary arts
  • Previous proven head chef experience is required
  • High level of maths and written/spoken English
