My client, a leading freight forwarder and logistics provider, is looking to recruit an experienced, committed and hard-working import clerk to join their international forwarding team.This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing, friendly team within a company who genuinely values its people and provide opportunities for career growth.Role: Import Clerk/Ocean Imports/Air ImportsLocation: DerbyshireHours: Monday to Friday 9 am - 5.30 pmSalary: Highly competitive dependent upon experience plus bonusIndustry: Freight Forwarding/Ocean freight/Seafreight/AirfreightPurpose/Objectives of Job:To handle the day to day operational duties and customer services with the Ocean and Air Import Department. To provide efficient and high-quality service to the Customer and network office / partner.Responsibilities and Tasks:·To have sound knowledge of all aspects of Ocean (LCL & FCL) and Air Imports from point of origin to destination.·To know and understand, Customs and Excise procedures and regulations.·To have full knowledge of all INCO terms as appropriate to Imports.·To work with the customer to provide the best service available within the time constraints provided.·Provide quotations to customers.·To work within the company KPI’s.·To create a relationship with Customers and Suppliers.·To be commercially aware of the cost of the service and ensure profit margins are met.·Liaise by telephone/email / with shipping lines/airlines/customers and other Departments and Suppliers.·To understand billing and costing procedures and answer invoice queries.·To operate within the company credit policy at all times.·General administration duties·Other duties that may be deemed the responsibility of the job holder.Desired skills / Experience & Person Specification:·Educated to a good standard of English & maths·Minimum of 5 years working experience with a freight forwarder·Proven experience in managing end to end processes within the shipping industry·Ability to be flexible and a willingness to become involved in all aspects of the Department as and when necessary.·Computer conversant in basic applications incl MS Office/Word & Excel·Effective communication skills (verbal & written) with colleagues, clients & suppliers·Excellent Commercial awareness and ability to troubleshoot and solve problems·Ability to work under pressure.·Export experience an advantage but not essential Required skills
