Job Description

Job Paths 4 U are looking for a Senior Residential Childcare Worker for a residential children’s home in Oadby.This home is for up to 4 children and young people who have particular needs that make it impractical for them to live at home, or young people who display challenging and unsociable behaviour and would best benefit from a secure, stable environment within a small home setting.Working as a Senior Residential Childcare Worker for young people aged 6-18 years you will assist in leading, motivating and supporting a team of Residential Childcare Workers.Our client truly values their children in care and feels that the children and young people of today are our future and with this in mind they will be given the best opportunities available, in order for them to reach their full potential.Senior Residential Childcare Practitioner duties include:

  • Provide a caring, supportive and nurturing environment in which children/young people can feel secure and free from harm
  • Implement personal care plans set out for children and young people
  • Work alongside the homes psychologist to bring into practice a Therapeutic approach in dealing with any child regardless of age
  • Ensure that each member of staff is aware of each child’s care plan and their responsibilities for its implementation
  • Chair children’s meetings and facilitating consultation with young people
  • Participate in reviews and other meetings as required and ensure LAC documentation is up to date
  • Take shared responsibility and accountability for the administration of all medication prescribed for the young people
  • Work in partnership with all individuals involved in a young person life to help improve their life chances and outcomes
  • Lead shifts, ensuring appropriate handovers take place
  • Be responsible for the deployment of staff on duty to ensure that the work required in the home is undertaken
  • Senior Residential Childcare Practitioner minimum requirements are:
  • Level 3 Diploma Children and Young people or Residential Childcare or equivalent
  • Able to work on a shift pattern which includes sleep-ins
  • Experience working in a residential children’s home
  • Minimum of 6 months experience working at a senior level with children in care
