Job Description

Job Title: Product Development Engineer (Electronics)Location: Nottingham (good public transport links)Salary: Circa £35k (negotiable, depending on experience) + benefitsKeywords: Product Development, NPI, Electronics, PCB, Jet Printers, prototype, assembly, manufacturingThe CompanyBased in Nottingham, this company works with OEMs throughout the world and across all sectors to help their customers get their electronic innovations to market quicker. This company is so much more than just a contract manufacturer.As a product development Engineer you will be working from their dedicated development centre that offers quick turn prototyping and low volume/high mix production, This is supported with an in-house full System Level Assembly for complete Build-to-Order, Configure-to-Order and product assembly.Due to their state of the art equipment, resources and knowledge sharing platforms they are now experiencing phenomenal growth and need a Product Development Engineer to ensure they can maintain their fast product development times.The role:This fast paced role offers a great deal of variety and no 2 days will be the same

  • You may be supporting a customer who has an idea but they do not know how to implement it or they may have a full circuit diagram and need speed in its evolution.
    • Your typical duties will involve
  • Using design packages and CAD systems for initial concept design.
  • Generating reports
  • Provide process development advice during the build phase
  • Create standard times and review during NPI build optimisation of oven/solder, M/C profiles, stencil design and consumable materials to support key processes.
  • Testing and diagnosing prototypes to identify improvements
    • Experience needed for this role
  • Experience of prototype printed circuit board assembly within a manufacturing facility
  • A working knowledge of Mycronics Printing and manufacturing processes such as Vapour phase and wave soldering and AOI (Cyberoptics)
  • Some experience of driving continuous Improvement
  • Able to liaise confidently with all stakeholders and customers
  • Excellent documentation and recording skills
  • Accomplished in complex problem solving
