Job Description

Janitor / Handyperson Northallerton, North Yorkshire £19,102 per annumContract: PermanentHours: Full time (37 hours per week)Our client has an opportunity available for a Janitor / Handyperson to provide an efficient and effective janitorial service to their Extra Care Scheme in Brompton, Northallerton plus other schemes in the area.The roleWithin this role you will be responsible for the security and general appearance of the buildings and surrounding areas.Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Maintaining the integrity and security of the premises and its contents
  • Opening and closing premises (gates, doors, windows)
  • Conducting and documenting health and safety inspections both inside and out
  • Checking and monitoring systems and functions (heating, radiator valves, water temperatures etc)
  • Replacing lamps / bulbs and domestic fuses and synchronising clocks and time switches etc
  • Maintaining appropriate records including repair orders and carrying out meter readings
  • Carrying out weekly fire alarm tests, emergency lighting tests and assisting with evacuation procedures
What they are looking for:
  • Previous Janitorial experience or similar field.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to organise and prioritise a demanding workload.
  • Good IT skills for recording, training and communication purposes.
  • Ability to work on own initiative and problem solve.
  • Good level of DIY skills.
  • Knowledge of CoSHH Regulations
