Job Description

Housing Support Worker (Homelessness)Northallerton, North Yorkshire£11.70 per hour / £17,226 (FTE £22,763)Part Time - 28 hour per week over 4 days (to include shift and weekend work)PermanentOur client has a new opportunity for a Support Worker to join their Next Step Accommodation Programme (NSAP) in Northallerton.The NSAP service is part of a national programme aimed to take rough sleepers off the street and put them into temporary accommodation where they will receive support to move on into general needs accommodation.The roleAs Support Worker you will be responsible for participating in the assessment of the service-users needs and will enable them to develop and maintain a sense of achievement and fulfilment. You will assist in the development of life skills and encourage a wide range of activities including involvement in the local community.Who they’re looking for:

  • Previous experience of working with young, homeless people and a good understanding of the principles of practice in working with vulnerable people.
  • NVQ level II in Health and Social Care or equivalent.
  • Excellent naturalistic observation skills
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and being able to work with service-users, colleagues, families and external individuals.
  • Good motivational skills, being able to encourage residents to maximise their opportunities.
