This is a fascinating new role which has been created following the unification of eight separate councils to form the new North Yorkshire Council in April 2023. This is a pivotal time for North Yorkshire - our new council has the largest geographical areain England and is the third largest unitary authority.Our new council enables us to streamline services and deliver efficiencies of savings at a time when, like all local authorities, financial pressures will be significant, whilst at the same time maximising opportunities of scale and improving outcomes forresidents and businesses. Your performance focussed and visible leadership enables you to robustly achieve the operational requirements of your services tomeet customer expectation.The roleYou will ensure that waste collection and recycling services across the county of North Yorkshire deliver a customer focused commercial waste service. Providing a base that supports colleagues in delivering an increase in commercial waste income, from theexisting and an expanded customer base. The service is delivered from 8 operational sites across the county, serving over 600,000 residents across the vast region of North Yorkshire.You will be an experienced manager able to successfully navigate the complexities of managing operational waste collection and recycling staff teams and develop strong employee relations. You form strong strategic partnerships with key stakeholders and externalpartners and agencies.You have a resolute focus on Health and Safety and Environmental compliance that safeguarding our colleagues, residents and environment.You will be welcomed by talented colleagues who are passionate about delivering exceptional services to North Yorkshire residents.
