Job Description

Support Worker with excellent communication skills and knowledge and an understanding of mental illness is required for a well-established mental health charity based in Newton Poppleford, Sidmouth, Devon.SALARY: £18,090 - £19,860 per annum + sign on Bonus + BenefitsLOCATION: Dawlish, Devon, South West EnglandJOB TYPE: Full-Time, PermanentWORKING HOURS: 35 hours per week on a rota basisJOB OVERVIEWAre you passionate about providing the best care to people with Mental Health NeedsWe have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Support Worker with excellent communication skills and knowledge and an understanding of mental illness.Working as a Support Worker you will join a friendly and welcoming team, in a home from home environment where no two days are the same.As a Support Worker you will work for a service which provides housing-related support for people with high support needs. The purpose of the service is to enable people out of area to return to Devon and aims to support people in gaining the skills theyneed to live independently.DUTIESYour role as a Support Worker will include:

  • Prompting with personal care
  • Supporting with medication
  • Providing encouragement with household tasks such as laundry, cooking and cleaning
  • Supporting to learn new skills, achieve their goals and ambitions
  • Assisting people pursue their interests and hobbies
  • Working with other mental health professionals and the family/friends of the person being supported
