Financial Systems Accountant£17.25-£23.72 per hourLocation: Newton AbbottAkton Resourcing are currently working with a local authority to recruit a Financial Systems Accountant to join the Finance Team on a 6-month contract. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced individual to join the team to provide a complete financialservice, this includes responsibility for accurate recording and reporting of all financial matters relating to the Authority for those services designated to this post.We are seeking someone with local government finance experience that can assist in the move to new financial and income management systems, who is able to prepare and manage budgets, and promote excellence in corporate financial systems This role will be operating on a hybrid basis, with 2 days in the office required and 3 days home working.The ideal candidate:* Will need AAT or a professional accountancy qualification and relevant post qualification experience working within an accountancy/finance office. * Will have experience of working with Advanced Financial and Capita Pay360 systems.* Will have the ability to amend and adapt financial systems and appropriate computing skills to extract, manipulate and report financial information. An extensive working knowledge of excel is essential.* Will have good written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.* Experience of budget setting, budget monitoring and budget forecasting.* Will have supervisory skills and the ability to be a member of and contribute to the work of a team.* Will have the ability to organise and prioritise workloads to achieve key outputs, with accuracy, within the deadlines set.* Knowledge and understanding of accounting principles and practices.You might have:* The skills and experience in Statement of Accounts production.* Experience of working within the Local Government sector.* Ideally qualified to Level 3 or 4, however applications at a lower grade may be considered.* Experience of change and project management.Start Date: ASAP.
