Job Description

*Support worker**Full time 35 hours a week - permanent on a rota basis**Newport**£10.50 an hour*We are working with a lovely client who are looking to recruit a support worker to join a small, supported living service in Newport. This is a permanent and full-time position working with adults with learning disabilities. The ideal candidate will be ableto work a mixture of day shifts and sleep ins on a rota basis, 35 hours a week. You will be providing support to tenants in their home, and you will be assisting them to lead a valued and fulfilling life while also maximising the potential capacity of alltenants, physically, intellectually, emotionally and socially. About you

  • You will have some experience in providing care to someone, either paid, voluntary or personal
  • Youll preferably hold a full and clean UKs drivers licence
  • Comfortable with alone working
  • You will be flexible to work with the planned rota, this will include nights, days, evenings, weekends, and bank holidays
  • Youll have the ability to motivate individuals with disabilities
  • Have good communication skills
About the role
  • You will be supporting the personalised development of each tenant, recognising talent, sensitivities, and beliefs
  • Youll respect the dignity and individuality of each tenant and provide choices where appropriate
  • To assist in the day to day running of the tenants home and in all matters regarding tenants daily lives
  • Ensure high standards of care and support are maintained at all times
  • You will initiate and support individuals to be involved in educational, occupational, recreational activities where appropriate
  • Youll be aware of the emotional needs and aspirations of each tenant of each tenant and provide opportunities for appropriate emotional expression
  • To contribute to the overall cleaning of the tenants home and involve the tenants in these tasks where appropriate
  • Write and keep updated individual tenants support plans and be actively involved in the review process
  • You will follow consistently all agreed support plans
  • Youll report promptly any concerns about health, safety, or well being of tenants
  • You will assist tenants in maintaining good contact with family and friends
  • To assist in ensuring all tenants are supported to go on an annual holiday
  • Compile detailed written records in the tenants files
  • Administer medication in line with all policies and procedures and maintain all associated records
