Job Description

Opportunity for a Senior IT Infrastructure Engineer, for a large IT Managed Service Group based from their South Wales offices.

  • Shift rotation - 4 days on, 4 days off, 4 days on, 4 days off, 4 nights on, 4 days off
  • Hybrid working - Office requirement for weekday day shifts- all other shifts remote.
  • Sal upto £45k Dep on exp

RoleThis is a hands on rather than support role, you will be responsible for maintaining the health and availability of all managed customer devices and internal systems, as well as acting as escalation point to other monitoring engineers, to do this effectively,you will need to be able to work unsupervised on:
  • Infrastructure Topology - create logical and physical diagrams for environments
  • Windows Server 2012 onward - Manage recovery options, driver installations, rolling-back Windows updates, core services and their statuses, using logs to identify RCA. Storage related issues for mounting virtual disks, extending volumes and other taskscarried out via Disk Management.
  • ESXi Hosts and Virtualisation (preferably VMware) - familiar with all management tasks, including creating new virtual machines, draining/evacuating hosts and live migrations, adding resource, storage management, configuring DFS and HA.
  • Network Storage (SAN and NAS) - Managing volumes and LUNs, assigning storage, presenting disks to a server farm
  • Backup Technology - Performing restores, investigating backup failures, changing schedules. Familiar with local and off-site methodology
  • Exchange - Experience of Exchange BackPressure’ mail flow issues relating to storage, queue length or memory, applying CUs, as well as performing detailed troubleshooting for connectivity and operational issues, using features such as event viewer andperformance monitor.
  • Firewalls - Working knowledge of networking, creating port numbers/destination addresses, NAT rules, HTTP/S web blockers, site-to-site VPN creation (phase one and two), auditing firewall rules and policies to best practice.
