Job Description

About The Job:The Communications & Policy Directorate is at the centre of delivering the Commissions purpose and strategy. The directorate leads the organisations efforts to engage with charity trustees, public, staff and key stakeholders in order to change behaviourand perception and strengthen trust. In addition to managing the organisations external and internal communications, the directorate also co-ordinates corporate policy. This policy function ensures that the Commission spots and understands key issues andhow they impact on the public, charities and itself, allowing it to adopt a clear and consistent organisational response to these issues.Job descriptionThe role of External Relations is to build the Charity Commissions wider visibility and reputation as an effective, proactive regulator and to support the achievement of our broader strategic objectives.The Stakeholder and Policy Manager (Wales) has important responsibilities for building relationships with the Commissions key stakeholders in Wales, in Government, Parliament and in the sector, the post holder will take the lead on our policy and engagementwork in Wales, seeking to grow our impact and reputation as a proactive risk-based regulator.Able to work independently, the postholder will have substantial autonomy, ensuring that senior Commission staff are appropriately briefed on developments. They will provide advice and guidance to senior colleagues, including the CEO, on engagement strategiesand work collaboratively and constructively with senior colleagues from across the organisation.ResponsibilitiesThis is a senior role leading on a variety of strategic relationships and policy development. The core responsibilities include:

  • Developing and delivering stakeholder management and engagement strategies
  • Horizon-scanning and spotting issues as they develop, with the Welsh government, the Senedd and the charity sector in Wales
  • Briefing senior staff and providing comprehensive and considered advice
  • Policy development on a range of proactive and reactive topics. This will include both remit wide - and welsh specific areas.
  • Feeding into a broad range of the Commissions wider work and providing a Welsh perspective
  • You will bring an excellent understanding of the Commissions remit and strategic purpose and the environment (political, legal and economic) in which it operates.
