Job Description

Our client is at the forefront of innovative cancer care with their UK network of cancer centres. They provide the most suitable, state-of-the-art cancer treatment and an exceptional level of care to every patient. The centres deliver high-quality diagnostic imaging and the latest in advanced cancer treatments including radiotherapy, chemotherapy, immunotherapy and, in the future, proton beam therapy across all centres.Job PurposePlease note: This is a full time and permanent post.The Senior Security Specialist role is to assist the design and implementation of secure information systems to support the enterprise infrastructure.The role requires planning, implementing, managing, monitoring and upgrading security measures for the protection and regulatory compliance of the company’s data, systems and networks.Where required to act as an escalation point for troubleshooting security and network problems. Responding to all system and/or network security breaches.Main Duties and Responsibilities:Develop Information Security Plans and Policies

  • Help plan and carry out the company’s information security strategy. Develop a set of security standards and best practices for the organisation and recommend security enhancements to management as needed. Develop strategies to respond to and recover from a security breach. Educate the workforce on information security through training and building awareness.
    • Implement Protections
  • Install and use software, such as firewalls and data encryption programs, to protect organizations’ sensitive information. The Senior Security Specialist will also assist computer users with installation or processing of new security products and procedures.
  • Create design and operations handover documents to ensure any new technologies are fully maintained and supported within IT.
    • Collaborate with other departments
  • Coordinate with other areas of the organization to see that any proposed or current system is working as optimally as it should. The Senior Security Specialist will analyse business requirements to identify where they can integrate new hardware, operating systems, or connectivity solutions which can create both business, productivity and security benefits.
  • Recommend alternative technologies or improvements to enhance information systems to support organizational goals. Ensure these recommendations are presented clearly and understandably to senior management.
  • Where necessary be involved with Proof of Concepts and evaluation of other IT related systems and applications and provide information systems security technical knowledge to benefit any potential design or purchase.
    • Test for Vulnerabilities
  • Conduct penetration testing, to highlight or find any weaknesses that might be exploited by a malicious party.

In addition to these general skills and personality traits, employers are seeking Infrastructure Architect candidates with the following skills.Experience and Competencies, Qualifications and Registrations
  • Experience in deployment and implementation of IT security tools and processes
  • Microsoft Office 365
  • OWASP Top 10
  • SANS Top 20 Controls
  • Microsoft Active Directory
  • Syslogging tools (Opmanager, Event Logger) or similar
  • SIEM tools (Splunk, ELK, IBM QRadar, LogRhythm, ArcSight, RSA NetWitness)
  • Hands on experience in security systems, including Firewalls, intrusion detection systems, anti-virus software, authentication systems, log management, content filtering, etc
  • Networking & Firewalls (Cisco, Palo Alto, Checkpoint)
  • IDS/IPS (Cisco Firepower, Checkpoint)
  • Wireless technologies and security
  • Vulnerability Assessment tools such as Metasploit Pro, Nessus Pro, Qualys, Burp, Microsoft Baseline Security Analyzer (MBSA), ZAP, SonarQube
  • SSCP, ISO27001 desirable
  • BS degree in Computer Science or related field or at least 5 years working experience.
  • Demonstratable experience of working hands on within project teams to deliver projects on target from end to end.
  • Strong experience of Information/Cyber Security engineering
  • Experience implementing, engineering and supporting technical security solutions
  • Experience with enterprise technologies and design including:
  • Microsoft technologies, including Windows Server, Active Directory etc.
