Job Description

Our client is at the forefront of innovative cancer care with their UK network of cancer centres. They provide the most suitable, state-of-the-art cancer treatment and an exceptional level of care to every patient. The centres deliver high-qualitydiagnostic imaging and the latest in advanced cancer treatments including radiotherapy, chemotherapy, immunotherapy and, in the future, proton beam therapy across all centres.Role purpose:

  • To support the clinical and administrative delivery of the centre by supporting the radiographic, and nursing teams to deliver a high-quality, compassionate service to patients.
  • To ensure patient safety while within the centre.
  • To perform IV cannulation, chaperoning, safety screening, and bookings as required.
Span and scope of responsibility
  • To work alongside the radiographer and nursing staff to provide patient related and administrative support.
  • To participate in the centre ILS resus team.
  • To assist in planning, organising and prioritise the workload under the direction of the registered staff.
  • To ensure that all clinical and other information records are fully and accurately completed.
  • To work under the clinical supervision and direction of a qualified HCPC registered radiographer, sonographer or Radiologist at all times.
  • To ensure appropriate tidiness and efficiency is maintained in the work areas and assist other areas as necessary.
  • To be responsible for the care and comfort of the patient, respecting their privacy, dignity and religious and cultural beliefs at all times.
  • Basic manual handling- help with falls assessments etc
  • Develop knowledge of available information and support for patients and support clinical team in signposting for support
  • To report all potential and actual faults and hazards.
  • To support and communicate well with patients, relatives and carers including where there are specific communication difficulties.
  • To contribute ideas and suggestions and express any issues of concern to the appropriate manager.
  • To liaise with and maintain good working relationships with other disciplines within the Centre and with other staff groups as appropriate.
  • To adhere to Local Rules and MRI Safety Regulations.
  • To participate in department, shift system.
  • Assist in creating a supportive and caring environment.
  • Measure and record routine observations of temperature, pulse, blood pressure, Weight and, urinalysis to support clinical teams within the centre when required.
  • Assisting with stock checking.
  • Support the Infection Prevention Lead for the centre to maintain a safe environment (carrying out hand hygiene/COVID Audits).
Place of WorkYour normal place of work will be at the Cancer Centre South Wales however you may/will be required to travel in the course of your duties to attend meetings and other appointments. This will also include travel between other company sites (including mobilefacilities). Travel and reasonable expenses will be paid in line with the Companys Expenses Policy.Person Specification - Essential RequirementsQualifications and Registration
  • Numeracy & Literacy as evidenced by academic qualifications to GCSE or equivalent or NVQ level 2.

Experience and CompetenciesExperience of healthcare work in a healthcare setting within the private sector or NHS.Knowledge
  • An understanding of working within a multidisciplinary team.
  • An understanding of compassionate care delivery within the healthcare setting.
